Gugul Dhoop is a sacred herb in the pooja and homa fire rituals, which is a spiritual ceremony performed in order to appeal to the planetary beings or nature for grace and intervention. During this ritual an offering is made to the fire for which Gugal Dhoop is the main ingredient. This is a primary spiritual incense for spiritual protection and dispelling baneful spirits and ghosts with a mystical aura that elevate the religious and spiritual feelings in the human soul. Medicinally in Siddha and Ayurveda it was used for any dental concern, for back pains and arthritis, and is useful in yoga for stretching and meditation. It is very anti-inflammatory, which is a disruptive cellular communication causing the body to attempt to heal itself, which it interprets as stress and causing negative feedback loops that lead to chronic conditions. Myrhh internally and externally can disrupt this signal and harmonize the energy, allowing the body to relax. It is used in some of the most potent pain formula in ayurveda called Rumasatal.
It is used in many tantric rituals, and has an erotic quality as an incense and anointing oil. In the Buddhakapala Tantra there uses coded puns to refer both to a word vola which is a stand in word for vajra penis in the ritual, with the lotus as the kakkola, vagina. But vola is also a Sanskrit word for myrrh resin, but the Dravidian root word means feathers, a euphemism for pubic hair, from a common root term associated with copulation. Kakkola is derived from a Dravidian word for “to love”, and it becomes a code word for sexual union, or making love. We provide a Vola Kakkola Incense Blend as well, used for erotic ceremonies and producing healing ashes to mixed with the kaula nectars and alchemical substance for personal clan sacraments.

As the resin only dissolves in water with difficulty, it should be powdered well to make an infusion. A secret to powdering resins is to freeze them over night first as they will shatter and powder much easier. Pour a cup of boiling water on to 1-2 teaspoonfuls of the powder and leave to infuse for 10-15 minutes. This should be drunk three times a day.
As the resin dissolves much more easily in alcohol, the tincture is preferable & easily obtainable. Take 1-4 ml of the tincture three times a day.*
